10 steps to prepare your holiday

For a great camping holiday, you need to choose a lovely place, enjoyable activities, unforgettable outings… and to prepare properly! To help you organise your stay, here are the 10 key steps!

1. Pick your destination

A holiday in a camping village offers an array of possibilities. It all depends on the kind of place you want to visit. Sea, mountains, river, countryside...? Choose a destination that will please everyone.

Your budget and the length of your stay are also crucial. For example, if you’re not staying long, you’re better off opting for somewhere not too far away. Not only will you save money, but you won’t spend too long travelling.

 2. Select your type of stay

There are so many ways to enjoy a camping holiday. You just need to be sure of what you want. Here are a few questions you can ask to decide on your type of stay:

  • Am I holidaying with the family, friends or as a couple?

  • In a tent, a caravan, a camper van or all-comfort cottage?

  • Am I going to relax or explore the surroundings and join in the local activities?

3. Find your campsite

Once you’ve decided on a destination and your style of holiday, it’s time to find your camping village. First, focus your research on your personal requirements (practical and specific needs, etc.).

Next, take the time for a close look at the accommodation on offer at the campsites, as well as the services and amenities available on-site.

For example, at our Les Cascades campsite, holidaymakers can book a comfortable cottage or a pitch with sanitary facilities. There is also a wide range of services (Italian restaurant, bar-terrace, grocery store, etc.), amenities (multisports grounds, a beach-volley pitch, water park, etc.) and entertainment (children’s clubs, sports tournaments, evening entertainment, etc.).

4.Make your booking

Some people think last-minute booking is an advantage, but you can be left disappointed. When you wait until the last minute, you may not find a campsite and/or accommodation to suit your needs.

That’s why, here at the Les Cascades campsite, we recommend that you book early. You can then relax and prepare for your stay in full peace of mind.

5. Decide how you’ll travel

This is an important detail for your holiday. Depending on your campsite’s location, the only way to travel may be by car.

However, if there are several options available to you, certain points will help you decide. If you expect to go out on endless excursions and enjoy different activities, it will be easier if you have your own transport (car, bicycle, scooter, etc.). Or if you plan to stay at the campsite and make the most of the activities on-site and the water park, public transport can be an excellent choice.

6. Take out cancellation insurance

We all dream of a perfect, hassle-free holiday when we can unwind and recharge our batteries. Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances can crop up at the last minute.

If you don’t have cancellation insurance, there’s always a risk something will go wrong and thwart your plans and your booking. A situation that no one enjoys… but one that can be avoided!

With cancellation insurance, you’ll remain covered and able to keep calm if a problem occurs.

Good to know: some bank cards include this service if you use your card to pay for your holiday. Contact your bank to find out more.

7. Find out about the visits and activities on offer

Now that you know where, when and how you are going, you can think about how you’ll spend your time! It’s always worth checking out the places you can visit and the activities you can do in the area around your campsite.

That way, you’ll have all the info you need when you arrive. And check what is available in high season and in low season too!

8. Create a checklist

Things are often hectic in the days running up to your departure, and especially on the day itself. In the rush, you might leave behind a bag, a doll or a booking slip.

To make sure you don’t forget anything, a simple checklist will be your best friend. Start writing it a few weeks before your departure, so you can add things as you go along. On the big day, you can simply go through the list and make sure you haven’t forgotten anything!

9. Pack your suitcases

Of course, before you go, you’ve got your case to pack! Again, we recommend that you don’t wait till the last minute. If you do, you’re sure to forget something – a swimsuit, the first aid kit or something like that.

And there are so many things to think of. Spreading the task out over several days reduces your chances of forgetting things and helps keep stress levels to a minimum!

10. Secure your home and off you go!

When everything’s ready, you can safely say it’s holiday time! But before you set off for the Les Cascades campsite, we have one last piece of advice: prepare your home for your departure.

Add these three tasks to your checklist:

  • Empty the fridge, the dishwasher and the wastebins
  • Unplug all your devices, don’t leave anything on stand-by or in charging mode
  • Switch off the lights and the water supply

And that’s it – you’re ready for the off! Have a wonderful holiday!
