Our Corporate Social Responsibility

Every year at Yelloh! Village Les Cascades, we introduce initiatives to reduce our environmental impact. Discover these everyday details that make all the difference.

Recycling: winning ways with wine

At the Les Cascades campsite, you can savour the Italian cuisine in our restaurant. You can also enjoy some excellent wines from our selection with each meal.

Once the bottles are empty, we recover the corks and send them to an association that makes sure they are recycled. The cork is then reused in various ways: thermal and acoustic insulation, design or artistic creations, and so on. The money raised by selling the corks for recycling can be used to plant new cork oak trees.

More responsible housekeeping

The methods used to clean our accommodation units and sanitary facilities also contribute to this growing awareness. Now, our cleaning staff use a Vapodil, a cleaning and disinfection solution that uses dry steam.

As such, no chemicals are used. The quantity of water required is just 1 litre, compared to 30-50 litres previously. The impact is therefore quite significant. There are no unpleasant odours with the Vapodil and it makes our staff’s job easier.

Finally, from the 2022 season onwards, we have done away with the plastic packaging used for our sheets and towels. A necessary choice, given the vast quantities of plastic used in the past. In the same vein, our accommodation units are now supplied with washable mattress covers.

More wood and greenery

As part of our commitment to reduce our environmental footprint and improve our integration into the landscape, we privilege wood for our construction projects.

For playgrounds, private sanitary facilities, storage premises and so on, we prefer this natural material which is recyclable and uses much less water. And let’s not forget that wood is one of the best materials around when it comes to insulation.

Meanwhile, we have removed privacy screens made from artificial materials to make way for planted hedges. This adds to the feeling of being immersed in the surroundings, making it easier to switch off and relax. As for non-hardy plants, they are either protected using special covers, or stored indoors during cold periods.

More responsible maintenance

Special measures have also been taken on the technical side. For example, our technicians now only use battery-operated equipment. From leaf blowers and electric screwdrivers to robotic pool cleaners and angle grinders, no exceptions are made!

And when you’re staying at the Les Cascades campsite, you’ll also learn a new word: lagging. This word refers to an insulation technique applied to water and heating pipes. It can help reduce energy consumption by up to 20%.

The swimming pool is also included in our CSR initiatives. The pool water is now recovered and used a second time. “How?” we hear you ask! It is reused to water the campsite’s plants. This helps us to save around 50,000 litres of water a year. Impressive, we’re sure you’ll agree.

And that’s not all! We are eager to further improve our CSR performance and are open to new ideas. We welcome every single contribution – be it social or ecological – that can further develop our commitment.
